Coconut oil is good for moisturizing your black hair. Rich in lauric acid, which is a rare fatty acid, Coconut oil will perfectly repair and nourish your nappy hair. Olive oil is an oil recommended for dry and dull hair. It allows having shiny-hydrated hair while Argan oil is a protective and preventive oil. When you use it like a serum or hot oil treatment, it will strengthen your hair so that you will avoid having damaged or brittle hair. With the Morocan Argan oil, your hair will be soften and more. Argan oil nourishes and repairs dry and split ends hair. It’s also anti-dandruff. Avocado oil also moisturizes and softens dry and damaged hair.
To Grow your hair or Fight against Hair Loss
Coconut oil, Castor oil or Grape seed oil with 3 drops of Peppermint or Rosemary or Lavender or Tea Tree essential oils
Coconut oil is the magic oil especially made for nappy hair. It’s suitable for nappy, kinky, curly or frizzy hair and is also considered as a hair growth booster. Castor oil is a powerful oil to boost hair growth. Its uniqueness is to thicken and strengthen the hair. I didn’t use Castor oil because my hair is coarse and voluminous. But if you want more volume, Castor oil is for you. But if your hair is voluminous like me, you should replace Castor oil by Grapeseed oil. Instead of thickening your hair, the Grape seed oil will soften your hair by giving you the same benefits as Castor oil. Meaning, stimulate the hair growth, and make your hair stronger. About the essential oils, 3 drops in your composition are enough because essential oils are highly concentrated. All essential oils that I mentioned above stimulate the hair growth. The Tea Tree oil soothes itchy scalp. This oil contains anti-androgenic effects which inhibit male hormones causing hair loss. The Lavender oil fights against hair loss. The Rosemary oil encourages hair growth by stimulating and improving circulation to the scalp and activating hair cells. I would end with my favorite: the Peppermint oil. For all hair types, it promotes blood circulation in your scalp, it’s an anti-dandruff and shines your hair. In short, it is the fullest essential oil for Black hair!
I come back on Coconut oil because it’s the only vegetal oil that acts outside of the hair by wrapping of a protective film. It should become the ‘must have’ of your hair routine.
To Have Soft and Shiny Hair Monoi oil or Argan oil
Monoi oil is from Tahiti . It’s my recent discovery, I had a crush on this oil. If you are addicted to Coconut oil, you will fall in love to the Monoi oil. In short, the Monoi oil is a Coconut oil revisited with the nature essence of Tiare flowers (Polynesian escape). Tiare flowers are soaked in Coconut oil for a month. With Monoi oil, my hair became smooth and lustrous. It’s a preventive oil which improves the general appearance of the hair by protecting, strengthening and beautifying the hair. Honestly, I didn’t know that one day, I would have soft hair now I can say “yes, it’s possible”. So now, I hope you have more information to make your own homemade hot oil treatment special ‘Nappy hair’. The Argan oil of Morocco will renew your hair by giving it luscious shine and a smooth, manageable appearance while strengthening.
- When you take care of your hair, always start from the back because this is the part that is often overlooked while it is the most fragile.
- Separate hair into sections and spray with warm water. Heat your oil in microwave for 15 seconds and add it to each section.
- Then I make a scalp massage for a good penetrationWith a large-tooth comb, I comb my hair always from scalp to hair ends. I tie my hair to prevent drips.
- I use plastic wrap to wrap my head and I wear a bathing cap. If you do not have plastic wrap, a plastic bag will do.
- Let sit for 30 min. Then rinse out oil and shampoo hair. To make sure that there is not a tear of oil on my hair, I shampoo twice. Generally, I do 1 to 2 hot oil treatments per month, that’s enough! But it’s also because I alternated with other hair treatments…
I recommend purchasing your products at organic store or with the special mention ‘extra virgin’, ‘organic’ or ‘100% pure’. Don’t worry if you see written on the label ‘for cooking’, vegetal oils are suitable in your kitchen as well as your bathroom.
If you decide to switch to natural, do not neglect your hair, and be patient.
